Integrating Ethics and Epistemology of Scientific Research

The DFG-Graduiertenkolleg 2073 (Research Training Group 2073) “Integrating Ethics and Epistemology of Scientific Research” focuses on innovative research in the areas of philosophy of science and ethics of science. The joint programme combines the strengths of the universities of Hannover and Bielefeld and offers unique opportunities to early-career researchers. It is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Currently, there are 24 PhD candidates and 4 postdocs at GRK 2073, of which 15 PhD candidates and 3 postdocs are located at the Institute of Philosophy of Leibniz University.

The programme aims at overcoming the divide between theoretical philosophy (epistemology and metaphysics) and practical philosophy (ethics and political philosophy) of science by focussing on research questions that require serious attention to both areas. The members of GRK 2073 draw on the resources of theoretical and practical philosophy, taking both equally seriously.
