Profil
Thomas Reydon (geboren 1969 in Den Haag, Niederlande) studierte Physik und Wissenschaftsphilosophie an der Universität Leiden (Niederlande). M.Sc. in Physik mit einer experimentellen Arbeit über Supraleitung bei niedrigen Temperaturen. M.A. in Wissenschaftsphilosophie mit einer Arbeit zur Everettschen „relative state“-Interpretation der Quantenmechanik. Promotion in Philosophie der Biologie am Institut für Biologie (Abt. theoretische Biologie, Lehrstuhl für Philosophie der Biologie) der Universität Leiden mit einer Dissertation zum Artproblem ("Species as Units of Generalization in Biological Science: A Philosophical Analysis").
Im Zeitraum 2004-2009 Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der ehemaligen ZEWW, in den Jahren 2006-2008 mit Projektförderung der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft. Danach zuerst Juniorprofessor und dann Professor für Philosophie der Biologie, danach Professor für Wissenschafts- und Technikphilosophie am Institut für Philosophie mit Kooptierung am Centre for Ethics and Law in the Life Sciences (CELLS). Er war Visiting Fellow am Minnesota Center for Philosophy of Science (University of Minnesota - Twin Cities) im Herbstsemester 2008 sowie im Herbstsemester 2013, und Visiting Fellow am Center for Interdisciplinarity (C4I) der Michigan State University in den Herbst- und Vorjahrssemestern 2018-2019. Desweiteren ist er Associated Faculty in der Arbeitsgruppe Socially Engaged Philosophy of Science (SEPOS) an der Michigan State University, Fellow der Linnean Society, Mitherausgeber (Editor-in-Chief) des Journal for General Philosophy of Science, Mitherausgeber (Editor-in-Chief) der Buchreihe History, Philosophy and Theory of the Life Sciences und Mitgründer der Gesellschaft für Wissenschaftsphilosophie.
