Humboldtpreisträgerin Prof. Quill R. Kukla am Institut für Philosophie

Das Institut für Philosophie freut sich, Prof. Quill R. Kukla von der Georgetown University (Washington, DC) als Humboldtpreisträgerin am Institut für Philosophie begrüßen zu können.

Auf Nominierung von Prof. Dr. Mathias Frisch ermöglicht es die Auszeichnung mit dem Humboldt-Forschungspreis der Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung, dass Quill Kukla bis Sommer 2023 in Hannover als Gastprofessorin lehren und forschen wird.

Quill Kukla ist Professorin für Philosophie, Professorin für Disability Studies und Senior Research Scholar am Kennedy Institute of Ethics der Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Nach Ihrer Promotion an der University of Pittsburgh hatte sie eine Postdoktorandenstelle für Bioethik und Gesundheitspolitik an der Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Sie ist Chefredakteurin des Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal, das sich auf Publikationen an der Schnittstelle zwischen Wissenschaftsphilosophie und praktischer Ethik spezialisiert hat. Sie veröffentlicht in den Bereichen Wissenschaftsphilosophie (insbesondere Philosophie der Medizin und Philosophie der Geographie), Sprachphilosophie, soziale Epistemologie, philosophy of agency, sowie feministischer Philosophie und anti-oppressive philosophy. Sie ist Autorin von drei Büchern: Mass Hysteria: Medicine, Culture and Mothers’ Bodies (Rowman and Littlefield 2005), und ‘Yo!’ and ‘Lo!’: The Pragmatic Topography of the Space of Reasons (gemeinsam mit M. Lance, Harvard University Press 2009). Ihr neuestes Buch, City Living: How Urban Spaces and Urban Dwellers Make One Another, ist soeben bei Oxford University Press (2021) erschienen.
